You might never have thought of this, but how do we measure temperature? We achieve this using a specific device called RTD sensor PT100! RTD: Resistance Temperature Detector This instrument is crucial because it tells us how warm or cool something is. PT100 is a type of temperature sensor which contains platinum metal as the "PT" stands for platinum. Almost all the response can be PT100, which helps you measure the temperature from the lowest −200°C to a very high point of 850 degrees Celsius! Platinum is used in this sensor; thus, it provides very precise readings when an electric current passes through it, which makes its deployment in many conditions possible.
Essentially, PT100 RTD Sensors operate by measuring the variation of an electrical resistance. Ohm describes the resistance of a thing to the flow of electricity through it. In a PT100 sensor, the electrical resistance provides an alternative way of measuring temperature. It simply means that if up will go temperature, resistance also going to be increased.
